1. Summary

Make Games Possible has no account system, no analytics, no advertising SDK and no server of its own. Everything below happens on your computer unless a line says otherwise.

2. What the app reads on your PC

  • Hardware: CPU model, graphics card model and video memory, total RAM, Windows version, screen resolution, free disk space. Read through Windows’ own management interfaces (CIM/WMI and the graphics driver’s registry keys).
  • Steam library: the list of games installed on this machine, their install folders, and which Steam game is currently running. Read from Steam’s local manifest files and the registry value Steam itself maintains.
  • Signed-in Steam account ID: the 64-bit Steam ID of the account most recently signed in to the local Steam client, read from Steam’s loginusers.vdf. It is used only for the optional wishlist lookup described in section 4 and is never stored by the app.
  • System load (only while the “Live check” panel is visible and the analyzed game is running): total CPU and GPU utilization from Windows performance counters. Nothing is attached to, injected into, or read from the game process.
  • Clipboard (only if you turn on “Check before you buy”; it is off by default): every 1.5 seconds the app reads the clipboard text and checks whether it is a Steam store link. The text is compared in memory and discarded; it is never stored, logged, or transmitted. Anything that is not a Steam store link is ignored. You are asked once on first launch, and you can switch it off at any time with the checkbox in the header.

3. What the app stores on your PC

All files live in your user profile (%APPDATA%\Make Games Possible) and are deleted when you uninstall or delete that folder:

  • cached “System Requirements” text of games you looked up (30 days),
  • the result of your last library check,
  • per-game performance profiles you saved,
  • the performance-mode state needed to restore your original power plan,
  • your language choice and whether the clipboard feature is on.
  • Exception: if you enable “Silent apply”, a small PowerShell script is installed in %ProgramData%\MakeGamesPossible (see section 5).

4. Network requests the app makes

The app talks to Valve’s servers only, and only for the actions listed here. Valve’s privacy policy applies to these requests. Your hardware details are never included in any request.

  • When you pick a game, run a library check, or a store link is detected → store.steampowered.com receives the game’s Steam app ID.
  • When you type in the search box → store.steampowered.com receives your search text.
  • When you run a library check with “Include my Steam wishlist” ticked → api.steampowered.com receives your Steam ID so Valve can return your public wishlist. Private wishlists cannot be read.
  • When you open the promoted product’s store page → the Steam client, the Steam overlay, or your browser receives the promoted product’s app ID.

5. Settings the app changes on Windows

Only when you press Apply (or when a per-game profile you saved is applied automatically), and only after Windows asks for administrator approval, the app changes the active power plan, the processor maximum state of that plan, and the priority of the running game’s process. “Restore original” undoes them. The app never changes clocks, voltages, fan curves, firmware, or any game file.

Silent apply (optional): to avoid an administrator prompt on every automatic apply, you can register a Windows Scheduled Task named MakeGamesPossible\ApplyPerf. This requires one administrator approval. The task runs a script stored in %ProgramData%\MakeGamesPossible, a folder that only administrators can modify, and the script accepts nothing but a Windows power plan from a fixed list and a processor percentage. You can remove it from inside the app (“Disable silent apply”) or with Windows Task Scheduler.

6. Promotion

The app shows a card for another Steam product by the same developer (Strange Video Editor) and can play an intro video that ships inside the app. Watching is optional, unlocks nothing, and is not tracked.

7. Children, sale of data, and your rights

The app collects no personal data and sells or shares nothing. Because no data leaves your computer under the app’s control, requests to access or delete data are fulfilled by deleting the folders named in sections 3 and 5.
